2. Why Scotland?

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary last year and decided to set out on a bucket list trip in 2024. Our last vacation was in 2019…pre-pandemic! Neither of us has vacationed in Europe, so we are excited to visit our ancestral roots.

Our wedding photo in 2013, on the banks of the Wenatchee River.

We both have family roots in Scotland, specifically Linlithgow, West Lothian, Stirling, and even Isle of Skye. My Great Aunt compiled Ancestors of the Browns, and it sparked an interest so deep we could almost hear bagpipes, feel the mist of Ben Nevis, and smell the peaty whisky. Most of all, we realize that our history in the United States is brief compared to the hundreds of years our ancestors spent in Europe.

This isn’t a well-spun tale of genealogy…Aunt Sandra did that work for us. However, our travel story begins here in 2024, and we are excited to share it with our loved ones. Stay tuned…we will update this site as Wi-Fi and travel chaos allows. We leave tomorrow!
